​Russell Tribunal on Palestine,
​New York

The international jury included Angela Davis, political activist and author, Michael Mansfield, Dennis Banks, co-founder of American Indian Movement, Cynthia McKinney, former member of the US Congress, Mairead Maguire, Nobel Peace Laureate, Alice Walker, Author, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd and Judge John Duggard. They heard witnesses who were experts in the complicity of the USA and UN in violations of international law by the Israeli state. Noam Chomsky was amongst them..

​This was the only RTP session where Palestinian witnesses were denied entry into the country. And as a result the content was less personal and authentic, and became much more academic. 

​Three jurors presented their findings to the United Nations Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.

On the Highline, in Central Park, MOMA, The Frick Museum, heard Carmina Burana at Carnegie Hall and the fantastic Lee Ritneur at the Blue Note Jazz club.

​Stephane Hessel, our friend, comrade, President of Honour of the Russell Tribunal and an inspiration to us all, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 27th of February 2013. He was one of the most important people in the history of the Russell Tribunal. We will remember him fondly. He has empowered us all.
